Hi Just wondering if anyone has been to Playa Dorada in Dominican Republic? Im going in october and staying in 'Occidental Allegro Jak Tar' and have heard mixed reports? One person said the beach was horrid and the water was dirty?

Just wondering if anyone can share their thoughts, and also tell me what the surrounding area is like and anything i should be aware of?

Also if anyone knows any 'essentials' that I should take with me?

I don't know the place; but there were reports earlier this year about quite a lot of cases of food poisoning from the country, so take care with what you eat/drink.

Did Jamaica one October and had a great time, so DR shouldnt be much different. Check out the hurricane/rainy season too!

I dont know that hotel personally but I do know some essentials you will need. insect repellent and bite relief, take some pills for a dodgy belly because you are guaranteed to get the ***** and high factor suncream. other than that you are gonna have a good time I had no complaints and loved it.

hi i went to the dominican republic last year january 2004.  I can only describe it as paradise as it was the most beautiful place i have ever been.  The beach was amazing with silky sands and clear blue sea.  You will have a fantastic time there i have no doubt about it.
