Myself and my family love Tenerife and visit at least twice a year. We stay in Playa de las Americas. There are fabulous restaurants, superb beaches and some great night life. My question is this... Why, when Tenerife is shown on travel shows on TV, do they always show the 100metre strip which is called 'Veronicas?' It is awful! British bars, drunken teenagers and all all that goes with a holiday dump destination. It really saddens me that they show and talk about this small part of Tenerife, as there is so much more to offer!! This part is easily avoided and yet it is the only part they show!!
Totally agree with your comments about Veronicas. Most of the island is very nice, especially as you get further away from the touristy South. Unfortunately the Brits have a reputation which goes wherever they go, destroying places like Ibiza, Corfu, Majorca etcetera for people who want a genuine relaxing holiday. Playa de las Americas [including Veronics] is just like Blackpool with Sun......you either love it or hate it.
I completely agree with you. When we tell people we are off to tenerife again, they look down their noses and say things like, " It looks really rough and seedy" which it isn't. We are going again Feb o6 and will have a super winter break.
