5/6 South Africa beat Malawi 48-46

7/8 Wales beat Uganda 64-41

9/10 Trinidad and Tobago beat Samoa 64-51

11/12 Fiji beat Scotland 51-41

13/14 Barbados beat Zambia 53-38

15/16 Singapore beat Sri Lanka 59-32

And so to the two Medal games, which finished ...

England 66-44 Jamaica

Jamaica had an early lead, but the Roses' GS and GA found some great form, and our shooting accuracy later in the game was fantastic.

Australia 58-55 New Zealand

The Silver Ferns were closing down Australia's lead towards the end, but the Diamonds hung on. Australia are world champions. Again. Annoying, isn't it. So the final places in the World Cup are ...

1st ... Australia

2nd ... New Zealand

3rd ... England

4th ... Jamaica

I suppose I'll be back in four years time. But for now, you've been a great audience, thank you and goodnight.

Yes, annoying that Aus won esp as they comprehensively beat us in the women's cricket leaving us needing 3 wins out of the remaining 3matches to retain the Ashes. I'm not into netball as much as cricket, tbh. But it's been fun reading your commentary.

Australian men's cricket team has been thrashed, and so was their men's rugby team yesterday (though not the week before), so that will inflict a small amount of pain.

Being beaten at Aussie Rules would really hurt, but as nobody else plays it, this will never happen; rather like the Americans and baseball.

On behalf of the committee I'd like to thank Jayne for her tireless work in bringing us updates on what was clearly an event of some interest to some people. Had it not been for her energy and enthusiasm the whole tournament might have passed without note like so many time before.
I'm making a note and sticking it to the fridge so I don't miss the coverage in four years time.
I'm also putting Post-It on the side of the microwave in case the fridge breaks down and has to be replaced before the next tourney and that note falls off and flutters un-noticed under a cupboard or somesuch.

Drink up now, bar's closed.

Daughter visited this afternoon and told me about England's medal! Now I can tell her the rest! Thanks again JJ for all the 'sports reports'. Granddaughter all geared up for her 2nd week of training (from Monday) with the Jets. Looks like she is also best in GK GD position like her mum and me before her. Even OH and Son-in-law are becoming interested! :o) x
