Hopefully there are no Brits among the dead. I expect this story won't get much publicity as it doesn't seem to contain the elements of recent atrocities in Europe, Tunisia and Egypt

Possibly so - the Thai atrocities are being linked to domestic perpetrators, as opposed to the atrocities which are linked to ISIS, and seen as more relevant to UK news consumers because ISIS present a real connected threat to them.
Sadly, in a world of violence, the media must prioritise its coverage based on what its audience wish to read and hear about first.
