Where had the best effect and which had the worst effect on you ?

The best place that left an impact on me was Budapest ,second was Belin for its cleanliness
Places I wouldn’t go back to, Israel, it was dirty and smelly, especially Nazareth
And probably Marmaris in Turkey, hated being approached every few seconds and asked to eat in their restaurants,
Yet going from Kos in the Greek islands to Bodrim, ( Turkey) loved it there
Northern Turkey is beautiful, I definitely would go there again

Best cities Oxford and Cambridge, best small town Bakewell, best seaside town Burnham on Sea, best cathedral Lichfield, best stately home Hardwick Hall.
The best time I ever had was the first time I went to Tenerife with Mr BM. I was dreading it expected beach and sun and nothing else.

At the time I was recovering from a bad experience and had PTSD.

It was awesome. We saw the most amazing stars on Mnt Teide by night, we went to tiny mountain villages, we wandered round old market towns, we strolled in the sun. But as I stood on the bow of a boat in the middle of the sea watching whales and dolphins and he slid his arm round me, I cried tears of pure joy. I'll never ever forget that holiday.

The worst? Pisa. Overrated, overpriced, it *** it down constantly and the company wasn't great either.
Pisa's no better in the sun bm:-(
I feel I've answered this on another thread today but heyho - my heart is in Menorca, lost it on first visit and have been back about 20-25 times (lost count) but this year, just before the lockdown we got 2 weeks in the Maldives off a bucket list. It was the most spectacular holiday we have ever had. The beauty of the island and sealife and the service and the food were mind blowing.
My worst was probably our 5th trip to Antigua. Second day we were mugged on the beach and 2 days later a British tourist was shot in the head during a robbery for peanuts (idiom). I was petrified every minute until we went home.
Margaret//best seaside town Burnham on Sea//

Blimey, Margaret. I live near there. Please could you tell me what you love about it? I think it’s ok, but I’m surprised at someone putting it as their favourite.
I suspected as much Ladybirder. Hated it. Loved Florence tho.

Prudie we went to Menorca on honeymoon. Resort was a bit quiet (in the south). Id love to go back and perhaps go north. Loved Cuitadella tho. Found the humidity a bit much!
I loved Menorca too. Love to go back sometime.
Oh yes BM I remembering you asking about it now. Didn't you stay in Cala'n Bosch in the end? Did you know that's considered one of the liveliest resorts on the island :-) I love it because I spend all day every day on the beach and in the sea and the beaches are amongst the best in Europe.
I honestly don't think I've had a bad holiday experience at all, so lucky on that front.
We had planned a major holiday to Australia (Hong Kong, Sydney, Sanctuary Cove, Cairns and Singapore), and then decided to get married so tagged an extra 5 days on and went to Hayman Island in The Whitsunday Islands to tie the knot. Made contact with an old school friend that I hadn't seen for over 20 years and he joined us with his new wife and they were Best Man and Bridesmaid. That was one special holiday. (And we're still married).

Best place in UK - North Yorkshire moors by far.

Yeh Prudie, that’s what I’m aiming for , I like most of us here can do the serious stuff but a little big of escapism is a good think...thanks
The most remorable holiday I had was when I went to Kenya when I was 19 and saw Kilimanjaro for the first time. I said I would go back one day and climb it and I did. Worst holiday was to Eastbourne as a child - I was sharing a bed with my sister and threw up all over her in the middle of the night.
I bet your sister wasn't best pleased 237SJ!
My worse holidat was to Feuterventura but that was probably because I was poorly. All my others have been good. Thailand was probably my favourite.
^No, and my Mum said to never eat fish and chips and drink milk because it will make you sick. She was right.
Yes Prudie that's where we were! Tbh it suited us because we were both knackered but think we'd get bored for more than a week.
Never had a bad holiday
oh yes hated Fuerteventura - worst than Austria - that was 2008 and I swore I would never travel again and I haven't been on a plane since and never will
