Best Car Audio manufacturer ?
I'm looking at fitting new in-car stereos into both my cars and was wondering what is currently considered THE BEST for sound quality ? All I really need is FM radio (DAB would be nice, but I'm not paying extra for it) and CD (MP3 might be handy). I'm thinking of maybe a CD/radio head unit and CD changer in the boot. I know Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar all fit Alpine units are these the best for sound quality ? Haven't a clue what Rolls-Royce use these days, but I understand that Aston-Martin use a specialy commissioned Linn syste, in the Vanquish.

I've got it hooked up to 2 Round Speakers with separate tweeters at the front and a pair of Infinity 6x9's at the back. The stereo itself looks very plain and OE but thats what foxes most people, they assume its a heap of c*ap, even the thieves, but I can assure you its anything but! Go have a look for yourself www.nakamichi.com .
As far as I am concerned the only make I would recommend after try many different makes would be "Alpine". Forget the rest "Trust Me". They have a model to suit all budgets and really do produce the goods.By the way if you go the MP3 route you dont really need a disc changer as one disc can hold hundreds of tracks.
I guess if Alpine are good enough for Jaguar and Mercedes then they should be good enough for me ! Plenty of Alpine units around, but haven't seen any Nakamichi - I guess I need to look more ! MP3 would be handy but I have issues over the sound quality - I can certainly hear the difference at home. I'm thinking that an MP3 compatible head unit plus a CD changer would give me the best options. What about speakers ? Who does the best ones ?
