Havana - things to see?
4 Answers
Me and my boyfriend are off to Cuba at the end of October, and will be spending 3 days in Havana. Have you have been, could you recommend any places to visit/tings to see and do/ what did you think of it. All recommendations gratefully appreciated. Were both late 20's if that helps, and are looking to avoid really touristy places, in favour of discovering the real Cuba.

We went to a cigar factory which was very old fashioned and the workers seemed to be very poor, but the cigar making was very interesting. There is a lot of poverty but the people were very welcoming. There was a lot of little yellow bubble cars and we discovered they were taxis. Have a lovely holiday.
Walk around old havana and the old square
Have a drink in La Bodeguita del Medio (where hemmingway used to drink, be careful prices are high!)
Go to Tropicana to watch a show (not cheap but very good, book early when you arrive)
Visit a cigar factory (tourist favouite but worth a quick visit)
Stand at the Plaza de la Revolucion
Hear the canon at La Cabana Fortress each evening
Walk to a section of the old city walls
Take a drink in the Park Nacional hotel
Eat at a Paladeras (Local family restuarant) down a street in Habana Vieja (agree how much before you order!)
Take a coco taxi
