Heat-phobes Seek Sunny Holiday
7 Answers
Evening all,
My Husband and I have decided our debt needs adding to: We want to go away either in Easter or in Summer- it has to be during Uni hols. We don't do too well in places constantly in hot hot places- mid twenties is enough. We have always had cheap, UK holidays, and this time want to spend 2000 tops on 10 days- 2 weeks away, being spoilt in the Sun. Poss all inclusive, but not shoddy...
We went to Fuertaventura all inclusive once, and HATED it- all chips and questionable meats.
Any ideas on destinations, hotels etc would be so appreciated!

Don't know if it's still going next year. It'll be too hot in summer but should be very pleasant by easter. And you'll have money left over.

Another vote for Madeira - because it's way out in the Atlantic its climate is more oceanic and it doesn't (usually!) get very hot. It's also an extremely beautiful place, surprisingly sophisticated (well, except for the tour round the sardine cannery - but that's probably gone by now!) and very relaxing. Not cheap, though - at least it used not to be. It's a few years since I've been and it may not be quite as expensive these days. On the other hand.........
Can't in all conscience encourage you to add to your debt, but this site will help you plan....

Well, we have had a look , and we will have to go away mid June. Since this means many places will be too hot, we thought maybe Cornwall- not quite Madeira, but we do want a honeymoon of some sort!
As for adding to our debts, there is only so much scrimping and saving and paying off and cutting back one can do before one just heads for a total meltdown!
So, any thoughts on how to holiday properly in Cornwall? Campervan- old or new? B&B? travel around or stay in one place? Hotel? So many possibilities!

You didn't say - do you want sea, beaches & all that stuff, or would you be equally happy with inland? We've had two absolutely super holidays on the Italian lakes, and in June the temperatures there would be in the mid-20s. Stresa, on Lake Maggiore, is possibly the most relaxing and laid-back place I've ever been to. The people are friendly, the food (and the coffee!) is superb, the scenery is magnificent, and it won't break the bank. Fly to Milan and get the train (excellent and very affordable service) to Stresa - super stuff!
