Orlando to the Everglades
4 Answers
We are going to Orlando in March/April to do the Disney thing!! However the BF wants to go down to the Everglades to ride one of those funny swamp boats with what looks like a huge fan o the back. Is that in the Everglades?? Is the distance drivable or would we need to get a flight there?

It's a bit of a distance as Orlando is some way upstate and the Everglades in the south; but the various motorways and turnpikes should get you there in a few hours, so no need to fly

You can go on an airboat much nearer to Orlando than the Everglades.

We went to the one at Southport park. We really enjoyed it, but make sure you put PLENTY of mosquito repellant on! Oh and go early in the morning as the alligators tend to rest up during the heat of the day, or you can go on evening/night boat rides. There are details in the excellent travel book, 'A Brits guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World', available at all good book shops.
Also don't just do the Disney thing, make sure you go to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, much better than Disney! Have fun!

Thanks both of you. I did Orlando about 10 years ago with my last boyfriend and his kids and absolutely hated it!! Now not only am I going back with my present boyfriend and his kids but we have actually bought a townhouse there!! Sucker or what. Anyway hence trying to find something other than Disney to do
