Edinburgh as a stag do location...
7 Answers
I am arranging a weekend in Edinburgh for about 20 fellas as part of my duty as bestman at my friend's wedding. Any suggestions as to what to do?? Arriving Friday afternoon, staying in city centre, probably drinking on Friday - any particularly good places / places to avoid??? Saturday may be looking at some sort of activity in the locality (depending on hangovers), and then out again on the evening. All suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Want some boozers that will happily let between 10 & 16 lads in on a Saturday night (although we may well stagger the people approaching the front doors). Activity...hmmm not sure...something probably not too energetic but somethign that doesn't necessarily involve drinking otherwise I'm not sure all of us will reach Saturday night...
I'd suggest Q bar straight opposite your hotel - only 5/6 quid for an eat as much as you can full scottish breakfast on a sunday, after church!
As for activities, try www.clunyclays.com or www.racingkarts.co.uk
And then for your precious drinking. Depends what you want. George St is the classier part of edinburgh - but quite strict about groups of guys apart from whetherspoons(standing order) La monde is a good place and also got a restaurant so that may be a way round it. If you are looking for a cattle market club - I would suggest Subway on Lothian Rd or a bit of middle of the road Espionage. Most pubs are open til 1 and clubs til 3. 3 sisters is a huge 3 floor pub with adjoining hoel so happy to accept stag parties. Pubs in the grassmarket are all grouped together and pretty acceptable to groups(hens as well) and short walking distance from the pubic triangle(hooters etc) And as a previous poster suggested - I 'd agree with Rose Street - a good pub crawl

Oh and I agree about taking a stroll up Arthurs Seat. It's stunning, and not too strenuous. Edinburgh is a great city to wander around, lots of nice architecture and loadsa wee nooks and crannies. As for places to avoid, I wouldn't recommend Lothian Road at the weekend, tis full of young dum radges. Hope you enjoy your weekend.
Make sure you book somewhere to eat well in advance. Went to a stag do in Edinburgh a few years back and the best man forgot to do it. Could we find anywhere to go - could we hell. We had to split, rush and regroup, which spoiled things. A group of hungry men found it hard to really enjoy themselves and the best man was not forgiven for a long time.........
