We have recently booked a holiday to Egypt, to go in August (School holls as I have a little one). We are going to the Sharm el Sheik, 2 weeks staying at the Kiroseiz 3 corners hotel (4star AI), anybody have any advice or views on Egypt as we have had mixed reports. Thanks

The shore is lined with a band of dead coral, so take shoes to go into the sea with, otherwise the walk out is difficult and really uncomfortable. However, once you're across the coral if you have masks and snorkels it's like swimming in a giant technicolour aquarium - and some of the fish are enormous! Absolutely amazing. In Sharm you see almost as much snorkling as you do if you're scuba diving.
The restaurants are good, it's safe to walk around, even late at night, it's friendly and it's very, very hot, so hats are a good idea - and it's a good idea to keep a T-shirt on the little one too.
Also, this might sound odd, but be sure to take some toilet paper in your hand luggage. The lady in the loo at Sharm airport hands you one square as you go in - and they don't put any more in the cubicles!
Have a wonderful time!

I loved Egypt and Sharm el Sheik. I agree with everything that the others have said except one thing about walking around safely. I in no way felt unsafe but felt had to use taxi between hotel and for example naama bay - was not aware of there being good roads between hotel and there (i think I can picture where your hotel was but may be wrong). All I am saying for example is in the evening you may need to take a taxi from your hotel to get to the area you wish to be in(when you are AI you may not wish to go out)- then you are totally free to walk about. I am not sure if you are planning on doing any travelling but dont feel that would be easy if you were not in an organised group - there are so many checkpoints. We travelled to Cairo and Mount Sinai. I found the people very friendly but like you had mixed reports before we went and even from the people we travelled home with. Some people advised the were 'hassled' by people to come into their shops or buy. We did not have a problem (we are 4 twenty something females). People certainly asked us to 'come look' but we found if you just smiled and politely said no or we are going for dinner then we were fine. You will have a wonderful time.
Not sure about Sharm but I went to see the pyramids last year with my bf (im 20), was nice to go for the experience but I wouldn't go again. All I would say is be careful, especially with a child, i got hasseled by alot of eqyptian men and was offering my bf camels to buy me! Don't carry alot of valuables or money around with you and keep your bag close. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time but just be aware x
