A group of us are planning to escape to sunnier climes for a week's holiday this March and, amongst other places, Fuerteventura has been suggested as a possible destination.
I have heard it can be VERY windy there, with sandstorms a possibility, so was wondering if anyone has any info as to whether Fuerteventura is a good place to visit in March.
i have a house in fuerteventura, near to caleta, go about 4 times a year , its no windier than anywhere else,, we were away for 10 days in Jan lying in 24 - 26 degrees sun on the beach, it does get windier in the SOUTH where they have kite boarding championships, sandstorms, never seen or been in one, my sister in law and three kids came out with us last year and have booked up again for 2008. the place is so laid back ,and chilled,
I have been in Fuerteventura in Nov, Jan and March. Cannot recommend places to visit, as have very much been lie on the beach hols for me. We stayed in Corralejo. It could get windy but was very warm so we did enjoy getting the breeze. There were moments when the beach umbrellas had to be put down so the did not go blowing across the beach but that was the only place I was aware of the wind. It certainly would not put me off going there. I had been told the canaries were windy but I found Gran Canaria windier than Fuerteventua. I found them to be very relaxing enjoyable holidays.
