I always get some lira to start with and change my sterling (or sterling travellers cheques) into lira as I go along. I use credit cards for restaurants, tours and some shopping. There are ATMS if you want to do it that way.

I've never used Euros there but I know that it is acceptable currency.

euros are used all over Turkey now.
We never take lira.
Have a nice holiday.
