Prague hotels
OK well I've decided on Prague and booked my flights for my weekend away! I've seen a few hotels that look nice but are not right in the city centre. The ones in the city centre seem much more expensive.
Just wondering what people would recommend - a better hotel outside the city centre or a worse one right in the city centre?
Thanks!

City centre is so expensive only because tourist are scared to stay little bit outsite the centre. Subway running all day till midnight, trams even longer. Taxi is not expenisive, if you use company as Citytaxi etc., dont use guys on the street. Ask in hotel for taxi-company number and you will be o.k. Choose location near by transport, best subway and you will have no problem to go to city centre quick. Prague city centre is basically for walking, everything is close. You will have some great time, if you go. Try look on Hotel DUO, Prague 9, Prosek. Looks like lots of young people stay there, maybe prices are good. Transport: 3 bus stops to subway, after 6 station to Wenceslaw square. Total travel time cca 20min.
If you want a quiet, basic, cheap but very clean, comfortable & friendly B&B, try the Pension Dana Residence in Prague 10 (Google for their website). 7 mins walk from Skalka metro station, 2 mins from tram into town (20 mins), several good local restaurants. We've stayed there about 8 times over th last 5 years and never been disappointed.
We recently stayed at the Hotel Julian which is about a 7 minute walk from Kampa Island and a 15-20 minute stroll from Mala Strana and the Charles Bridge.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff, comfy rooms, good breakfast would recommend it. There website address is below

I've stayed a few times at a place literally 2 minutes' walk from the Charles Bridge - called in English "Golden Tree Hotel" but I think it's something like U Zlaty Strom. We booked through hotelsclick.com. It's Bed & Breakfast but the meals they sell for lunch & dinner are fantastic. The rooms are gorgeous and it's not expensive. The breakfasts are lovely and the staff are friendly. It is right in the centre, like I say, and there's a club downstairs but we've never had a disturbed night there yet. Good luck. I think it's time I went back now - haven't been since October!
If you havent already booked, then i would hihgy recommend the Cloister inn. It is just within the old own, near the charles bridge and really easily walkable from everywhere. The hoel is safe, clean and friendly, free tea and coffee in the lobby, and reasonable breakfasts too.
Good value for money- everyone i know who stays there, recommends it!
