Hi,

As Poland has joined the European Union - does anyone know whether or not they are part of the Schengen Countries yet?

Thanks!

Brilliant - Thanks!
With one unsurprising and one conspicuous exception, the whole of Western Europe and several former Warsaw-Pact countries are within Schengen and not only EU countries either. The exception is the UK and Ireland landmass, Ireland being unable to join because of the porous border with the UK to the north. Switzerland is not in the EU, EEA, the UN or Schengen. You can see the list and a map here www.axa-schengen.com/english/schengen-countries.html. It seems entirely possible that, with the exception of the UK and consequently Ireland also, the whole of the EU will eventually be accepted and sign up to the Schengen Agreement.
Oh, just so there is no misunderstanding - the list and map are handy but I do not have anything to do with AXA. In fact, due to an unpleasant experience with them when claiming I deliberately will not touch any insurance sold by them or underwritten by them. I take out insurance for peace of mind, not to enlist for a possible fight to have it honoured.
