We stayed at the Travelodge in Farringdon. 10 min walk from king cross tube station, so you're close to everything. Cheap rates for rooms when book in advance and a very nice place to stay. Decent breakfast too.
Stayed Tavistock Hotel last weekend, 87 double inc full english / buffet breakfast - just on Tavistock Square 200 yds Euston station. Now seems to be a perfectly reasonable hotel - stayed 8 years ago and it was a rat-pit but has been renovated / changed hands. Clean, safe, central, beds Ok, not fancy, the tea at breakfast was stewed so have coffee instead.
Yeah Zacsmaster: you might have a point. Not too fussed about facilities etc. Will be out most of the day anyway, but am quite happy to pay a bit more to get a nice hotel with a nice clean comfortable room. It's only for a long weekend with the gf, so I'd quite like to treat her to something fancy. . Any suggestions welcome at the moment.
Thanks for all the comments btw guys :-)
They are on the south of the river (which tends to be cheaper thant he north side) between roughly London Bridge and Westminster Bridge so just a stroll across the Thames to places like Westminster Abbey or St Paul's. Tubes and buses would get you quickly into the West End for shops, shows etc.
We stayed at the Radisson Edwardian Sussex Hotel last year. The staff were great, wonderfully accommodating and helped us to reserve tickets to see David, a highlight of the trip! Probably the most appealing thing for us was that they have private parking in their own little courtyard, which meant we didnt have to worry about our hire car, really great service.. However the staff were completely understanding and helpful and had our room changed at no extra cost and even brought our bags to the room for us. Fantastic stay, defiantly recommend it! http://tinyurl.com/brrhoq
