Weve booked to go to New York next month, and we are there for my partner's 30th birthday. Any ideas what I could arrange for a memorable birthday, something a bit different??
restaurant in the Rockefeller Centre is nice - the one that's down by the skating rink (I don't know if they'll still be skating there next month). We had Xmas dinner there once, by the window
I did a helicopter ride when I went to New York, I just booked it through expedia. There is also the revolving restaurant in Times Square http://www.marriott.c...ork-marriott-marquis/
I went there for Sunday brunch which is FANTASTIC.
Gallagher's steak house, fantastic food, not only steak. All the meat can be seen hanging in a glass type fridge before you go into the restaurant. From memory it is close to Broadway, hope to go back to New York soon and will definately be taking my partner for his birthday. Hope you have a great time, don't forget to visit the Outlets, great bargains there!!!!
thanks whitelady. im so excited! we are staying 2 blocks from times square so i'll keep an eye open for that restaurant. have you got any tips for the less touristy things we could do whilst there?
Hi, I just had a look at Gallagher's Steak House, still as good as ever. Have a look at the menu's ( google it) The address is 228W 52nd Street, New York. I have been there twice but my partner has never been. I will think of other things and let you know soon. Just put Gallagher's Steak House, New York and all the pictures etc. come up.
jb....I was in New York for my 28th. We were a bit limited due to the blizzard at the time, so didn't really get to explore as we wanted to. We did go to Peter Luger in Brooklyn. The best steakhouse ever !!
I am telling you places as they come back to me, you must visit ChinaTown for a great cheap meal, not the birthday night!! Go early as the popular food gets eaten up early, like peeking duck, spare ribs and chicken. Lovely soups too and all for for about five dolars each for a big meal. There are shops there too if you like shopping for bits and pieces.
JJ.... I honestly can't remember, but we didn't have starters (thank god, the portions are huge). We had "steak for two" and hand cut chips. We must have had wine, I guess. The most expensive part of it is the taxi there and back. We stayed at The Plaza, so it was 25$ each way in a cab. Don't forget to add 15% onto everything for service. If you don't tip, you won't get out alive !!
