Memorable trip for Mums 60th

My wonderful very young spirited mum is turning 60 and i would like to take her on a special 5 day break somewhere in Europe.
Was thinking Milan for the Ballet and then Lake Como but have recently read some reviews stating that Lake Como is very over rated and not very pretty...
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated- Thank you!

Lake Como is beautiful, also a good base for going down to Milan, you can go by train. Not far from Switzerland either.
