Microsoft Office Word Previewer Problem

I bought a WIndows 7 four months ago along with Microsoft Office 2007 for home use.

I downloaded the Office disc myself but am having a problem with Word. Before I want to open documents, I sometimes like to use the Preview Pane, to make sure I open the correct document. However, with the exception of items that have been scanned in, I cannot see written Word documents in the preview pane. I get the message: "This file can't be previewed because of an error in the Microsft Office Word Previewer".

Can anybody help me solve this problem? Microsoft's website is hopeless. I really do not want to reinstall Office 2007 again if I do not have to, but would appreciate some advice.
