Food in New York
8 Answers
My friend and I are planning a trip to New York City. We want to try all the foods in the different nationalities, but we're a little wary of organised walking tours, because we're both slow walkers and I have trouble with my ankle. So we were thinking we'd plan our own, with as many pauses as we wanted, subways and buses and things.
Unfortunately, all I've managed to do is come up with a list of types of food.
- chinatown
- japanese
- little italy
- jewish
- greek
- middle eastern
- south american
- indian
We need suggestions on any foods I've missed, and a route. Can anyone help?

but don't forget American! You must find a diner to have a great American breakfast, I love pancakes with fresh fruit and maple syrup. Then there is the famous New York Cheesecake, doughnuts by Krispy Kreme, not to mention pretzels bought from the street vendors.
A great place to have LOADS of food is the revolving restaurant (The View) situated in the Marriott hotel in Times Square. The Sunday brunch is AMAZING.

And then again, you haven't mentioned Mexican. I would imagine there are more Mexican restaurants than Indian restaurants in New York.

The Carnegie Deli (opposite Carnegie Hall) is a great Jewish deli.

Did you know Andrew Carnegie, after whom the hall was named, was born in Scotland?
