Well, we have our own "Eye".

Like the London Eye, except almost outside my window !!!

In September, there was nothing there.

Now, suddenly ... a giant big wheel, with pods, like the London Eye.

Just one request ...

If you come down and go on it, let me know, so I can close my bedroom curtains.

Or, for those of you so inclined ... it's almost opposite Legend's (the gay hotel), so you can snoop into the goings on there instead.

I assume that you are in Brighton. is this wheel with a fairground or a permanent thing?

No, it's not in a fairground.

And it's waaaaay bigger than a fairground wheel.

Seriously, it's like the London Eye (well, almost).

It's just been built on the front, between the prom and the road. If you know the town at all, if you came into the town approaching the sea front, when you get to that tricky roundabout, right in front of the Pier, it's there, on your left.

It has pods. So you're not sitting in a chair. You go inside a pod. At night, it's all light up with blue lights, and you can see it from miles along the coast.

is it because we might discover that there are no goings on in your bedroom, thus shattering many illusions.....

It's going to attract an extra quarter of a million visitors. I doubt that. There was one in Belfast for a while. Most of the time it wasn't even revolving as tourists just didn't use it.

Reading that article, I'm pleased to see that the building of the wheel helped to support the local construction industry.

sandy, could that be because, like the one we had in our city it cost £10 per adult and £5 per child..... ?

i couldn't afford to take meself on it, let alone the kiddywinks as well.

This one seems to be going round all the time.

I think it's one of those where you step into the pod as it goes past, but it doesn't actually stop.

I'm not sure that there's much to see from the top. A load of dreary rooftops, and the sea.

London Eye goes round non-stop. Do you really want one of those on your seafront permanently? It looks a bit out of scale with the local architecture. (I suppose it has to if you want to be able to look down on people's roofs.)

We had one in York..............didn't really go with all the surrounding historic buildings.

Well, it doesn't exactly "fit in".

I wonder why they didn't put it a bit out of the town centre ...

... like maybe down near the marina?

What is this tower thing? It sounds like some sort of "all round" tower thing.

Restaurant? Just for going up and having a look?

But the girl on the counter in Jack Wills on East Street said it's going to be the tallest structure in ... something ... Britain?? (that would be really high!!!)
