I'm going to Majorca next week and would like to be able to text my boyfriend from there.

I have found out that it will cost 45p a msg, and will be free for me to receive msgs. Does anyone know if it will be free for him to receive msgs (in England) and how much it will cost him to text me? He is on O2 and I am on Vodafone.

Also, do I have to ring up or get my phone registered for use abroad or anything? Or will it just work automatically over there? I will not be using it for phonecalls.

Thanks in advance

Once you arrive in Majorca your phone will automatically re-tune to the Spanish network, you will not be charged to receive texts in Majorca, and likewise your boyfriend will not be charged to receive texts in England. enjoy your holiday.
The best thing to do is phone your net work to find out what your charges will be.  You will be charged if someone phones you so please give them a ring sometimes they give special offers. I learnerd the hard way
You need to have international roaming enabled on your phone -- check with your operator before you go.
