Ryanair Cabin Baggage
Has anybody flown with Ryanair recently, I have just looked up cabin baggage sizes and it says "1 cabin bag up to 10kg maximum diamentions 55x40x20cms" plus 1 small bag up to 35x20x20cms but some people have told me that they take the first cabin bag but then put on a rucksack taking lots more, is this correct as I don't want to get to the airport to br told the rucksack has to go in the hold at £50

It could be a rucksack as long as it fits the dimensions and the weight limit. Their planes aren't huge and don't have a lot of baggage space; and they don't want a lot of people checking luggage in for the hold, as loading and unloading takes time, makes them late and costs them more in airport charges.
Sometimes if there's a lack of space they have to put luggage in the hold even if it's the right size and weight, but in that case they won't charge you.

Both bags have to fit in the appropriate 'size guide' cages, if they ask you.
A rucksack might fit in the small bag cage, depending how big/full it is.
The good thing about the smaller bag is that it is not weight restricted - so I stuff all my heavy camera/electronics/books/etc in a camera bag that is exactly the right size. This makes it easy to then meet the 10kg limit on the bigger bag.
