Sorry, but I never put anything in my hold luggage that I couldn't bear to lose or need urgently at the other end.
Travelling soon. And I have bought myself a decent comfortable haversack which will carry all the important stuff: spare glasses, iPad, iPhone, charger and adapter, house keys, travelling docs, medicine, pounds and euros and credit cards, small travel toothbrush and toothpaste. I'm sure you have additional items.
Just assume that your hold case vanishes never to be seen again, and work from there.
(Ps, I have now started carrying a photo of my small hold case on my iPhone, with brightly coloured ribbons attached to the handle. Mine is a black Antler, one of millions, so this might help if it goes missing.)
Ps - am stuck with travelling with Easy Jet this time, but when I do BA, nothing goes in the hold.

No. It contains a lithium battery so shouldn`t be put in the hold.

Well if it's that critical it ought to be clearly explained, I've been browsing various airlines about this question and have not found one yet that even refers to tablets/laptops in hold baggage. The only thing I found that referred to lithium batteries was in relation to some very obscure items such as hoverboards and segways.

Well, when we have passengers who bring too much hand baggage onto the aircraft and some of it needs to go into the hold, the first thing we have to ask them is have they got anything in their bag that contains a lithium battery. If they have, it has to be taken out of their bag before it goes into the hold.

lithium batteries are a huge problem in aviation nowadays. That`s OK if you keep on top of it. For example, if someone drops a mobile phone down the side of their seat and then tries to change the position of the seat to try to retrieve the phone that can cause a fire. It`s called thermal runaway. A modern day problem

That's BA advice and I've never had a problem packing laptops and tablets in my suitcase. I've never been asked about it, either.
