the airport and station are really close together - the "pisa mover" was due to open in October but I can find no definite information that it actually did. if not, use the pisamover bus to travel from one to the other; either way it only take 8mn. from pisa trains to Florence 2-3 times an hour, journey 48-65mn and fare of eur8.40.
alternatively autostadale bus from the airport direct to Florence, every 45mn, journey around an hour (dependent on traffic) and a fare of eur4.75.

When we went about four years ago there was a platform at the airport, you bought a ticket to Florence either in the terminal or on the platform but remember to get if verified before you board. Coming through the terminal if you face 'outside', the platform is to your left. Be aware that they regularly strike on Fridays, in which case there's a bus runs from opposite the station in Florence. Central hotels are easily walkable from the station, the Duomo is about 10 minutes.
