Do you own/ use one? I’ve got a Thomas Cook card. Called into my local TC travel agent recently, with the intention of putting euros I had on it. We don’t do that the girl said, you have to buy euros. ( at a lower rate than other currency exchange offices I might add ) and the euros are loaded onto card. It’s defeating the object I said! That’s the way we do it she said. Is it the same with all prepaid cards?

Why mess about with a pre-paid card? There are plenty of commission-free credit cards available.

We have a Revolut Card which we used in Reykjavik and Boston - it saved us a small fortune.

I have a Travelcard issued by Thomson and I top mine up online. Never heard of having to buy euros first!

Kathyan. Basically you are doing the same. You are paying £s to get it converted to foreign currency at that days rate. Then getting it transferred to your card. I went in to the TA with euros left over from a holiday physically in my hand to load on the card.

I have a post office one and just top it up with sterling and it converts it to dollars.
