online maps

does anyone know a site where i can obtain online maps/maps in electronic format, either free (preferably) or purchasing them. Not the streetmap.co.uk, but instead i am after Ordnance survey maps (O/S) preferably 1:50 000 scale, and not ickle bitsy portions of maps, the whole thing would be better.

Darth, I don't think that you will find large O/S maps on the www. mainly because they are crown copyright. You can get small O/S maps by visiting the O/S site at http:www.ordsvy.gov.uk or there's another company called Digimap, but they want an annual subscription of about �5000. Have you tried the hand held jobs available from outdoor activity / camping shops ?

This is exactly what i'm looking for on 2 counts - the software is easier to use than the existing mapper software i have (referring to my earlier posting) plus the maps are what i'm after. Cheers mike, darth
