I've just tried a random date in November and I was offered a choice of 12 flights, all at $39 + $10.30 taxes and fees. (i.e. $49.30 in total). The journey time is about 1 hour 5 minutes.

In the unlikely event that you can't find a suitable flight with America West, these airlines also fly on that route:
American
Northwest
Southwest
United

Why fly, when it's a lovely drive? The journey is about 270km, and goes past some amazing scenery, a huuuge outlet mall in the middle of the desert, as well as real movie stlye diners. Most rental firms in LA will do one wa rentals to Vegas. Always remember to arrive just as it's gone dark, for best effect. Book your hotels early if going at a weekend, but be bold if going on on a Sunday or Monday as the hotels are gagging for your business and will always give you a better deal if pushed.
in my opinion, you can't beat southwest for this nonstop. though i'll agree with the poster about america west. jetblue has cheap (and nice - they are a "luxury low cost carrier") flights from long beach and burbank but that's a little further out of your way. for this flight you should absolutely pay no more than about $70.00 to $80.00 one way per pax incl. all taxes and fees. try to give yourself at least a seven to fourteen day advance, get a promo or internet only fare for those $50 flights.
i say why coop up in the car four plus hours (never mind hitting traffic through barstow) when you can do it in under an hour and a half by air...
