Car Rental Spain

Just come back from Spain the car rental has gone up by a vast amount this year. Rental for a KA was 145eu for a week final price amounted to 247eu
They charged 53 eu for the fuel and just checked the fuel capacity for a KA and it is 35 Ltr that is very expensive fuel charge as you usually take it back not having used it all.

We got ripped off last time in Spain too with their local car hire, we even had to pay extra insurance for taking the car into France, extra insurance to insure parts of the car not insured and as you say for the full tank of petrol. Will stick with Hertz next time, it'll work out cheaper...

I have been looking around at a lot of hire companies in spain and they all seem to have doubled in price but if I need one I have no option. They seem to be adding a lot of extras that you didnt have to pay for before just like the airlines have.

Was it a condition of the hire.Didnt you think of asking for full/full whereby you return the car full.Refilling yourself paying only to replace what you have used.

As an addition yes prices do seem to have increased.Paid 153 euros for a weeks hire from Barcelona airport.But The Costa Brava area has always been dearer to hire.
Done a full/full option and paid 6 euros to refill the car with diesel.I only did the mileage from airport and back..

I have used the same rental co for years and they always seemed to be good on price but you dont get an option on refill the tank is full when you pick up the car and are charged for a full tank whether used or not. I shall be looking for an alternative hire co next time I go
