How do I remove a fixed line in Word

Windows 7 Word/

I typed === at the end of a paragraph to act as a temporary break (for daily word counting) and it converted in to a solid double line across the page.

I can not get it to delete and its a pain in the proverbial as I have to bring paras above the line and then press enter to create a new paragraph and send the double line further down the page.

How though do I remove it?

I've just tried that but I can't get it to change to a solid line, have you tried highlighting and delete, or going to the end of it and pressing the back button... or seeing if you can hover over it and delete? (apols if some of these are stating the obvious).
What about highlighting your punctuation with the little backward-P icon and seeing if that gives you a clue?

it seems to be embedded and not responding to highlighting, boxtops

what I can get is if I hove over it, I see the dotted cursor running out to the "side ruler."

This is a bit tricky to answer as you've not told us what you've already tried. For example, have you tried typing a couple of lines of rubbish, either side of the offending lines, and then highlighting (using 'click and drag') the whole of that area, before hitting the Backspace (or Enter) key?

Further to Buenchico post . . . .

Place your cursor above the 'solid' line and then type a few characters. Highlight the characters, right click and then cut.

It clears the "pain in the a" when I proof though!
