Just recovering from a coach trip to Amsterdam how tiring was that? Started out being picked up at 1.25 a.m Saturday long journey reached hotel 4.30 ish p.m. absolutely crackered. Only had 1 hours sleep on coach. Sunday was a busy day, boat trip on canals then guided tour on coach by Brit guide then left to own devices for evening. Hotel 20 minutes out of city. Monday breakfast at 7.00 then on coach at 8.00 off to Bruge for 2.5 hour walkabout, all very nice, back to coach, had to wait for 2 straggling women who arrived back 1.5 hours late, we were just pulling ou of carpark when someone spotted them, they were not bothered at all hardly apologised at all, I would have prostrated my self with embarrasment. Because of this we could not go to Belgian Chocolate Factory or Booze warehouse in France, this did not go down well with the fellow passengers, cries of "Thank you ladies" fell on deaf ears, no reaction at all.
We just managed to catch the ferry, arrived back in Gloucester at 10.30 pm. Such a long day. Taken 2 days to get rid of stiffness from all that sitting. OH said I'm never going on a coach holiday again! Friends suggested today we join them for New Year in Paris, that went down like a lead balloon!!
Don't be too despondent. The Belgian Chocolate Factory sells nearly out of date stuff at top prices and the Booze Warehouse sells cheap wine you can't drink, and good wine for the same price you'd pay in the UK.
Oh I feel for you Caran, had a similar thing on a coach trip to and from France and incubated a mozzie bite oh back of thigh on way home, was the size of a tea plate when we got home.
Apart from the rant we had a super day on Sunday and Amsterdam is a beautiful city.
There wasw a big music festival on at Ajax stadium, it happens every year with a different theme, this year was white and gold, thousands of people dressed in white and gold fascinating to see, even old men wearing gold suits, some girls had gold false eyelashes on.
Aww I know how you feel. Sorry to hear your trip wasn't all you'd hope it to be. And Amsterdam is such a lovely place too, it seems to have been passed by on your itinery
We did a coach trip weekend in Paris and although we enjoyed it, I'd say never again too. A couple of days travelling for only a couple of days "pleasure" if you can call it that, when its often just more time on the coach.
If i did even consider it again I'd drive to Dover I think and pick up from there. But there's no accounting for the selfish ones who delay everyone else by being back so late; whatever were they doing for al that time? Shame they weren't left there isn't it?
Hi Elsie - sorry it was a miserable experience for you. Sounds like a case for anti DVT stockings. I expect a small libation or 6 helped the initial stiffness. Welcome home to you.
Mamya - that sounds awful - did the mozzie survive?
