Can anyone recommend a really good insect repellent. I've tried most of the stuff on the shelves, but have yet to find one that actually works. I'm hoping there's something out there on the internet that I haven't discovered yet... something that works amazingly well!
It needs to be suitable for children, or two separate ones are fine. TIA.

You're welcome...
There are several different Jungle Forumlas. Some contain 50% DEET (for the tropics really) some contain 20% DEET, some contain citronella and some contain IR3535. I`ve always got on well with Boots Repel Plus (yellow bottle) which is a mix of citronella and IR3535. I like it because I can put it on my face and neck with no ill effects. They do a DEET one as well (grey bottle). Sometimes I`ve used one for my face at the same time as the other one for the rest of me.
Boots yellow roll on works for us and we go to Goa quite a bit, but you have to use it about every 3 hours and remember to roll around your wrists and ankles and neck. The stuff you buy out there is useless but the green coils that you light and leave in your room whilst you go to dinner they work.
Citrus oil can work well
As can the Avon spray (green bottle)
Also vit B works too as mossies hate the smell (you can't smell it lol) - start taking it a few days before you need to
I got my onguard natural repellent from http://www.insectrepellentshop.com/ the stuff really works and the kids said it was much better than the deet stuff we previously used.

fliptheswitch - i never knew deet was that bad!!
the british army apparent ly use the Avon Skin So Soft original spray oil when they go into the jungles of Belize, so must work.
