Has anyone here ever applied for their Ehic (European health insurance card)?

I heard that it's free yet some sites ask for a "Processing fee" Can anyone tell me where to get it free and what criteria one must fulfil to qualify, also what are the benefits?

Everyone qualifies who wants to travel to Europe replaces the old E11 form. Easy to do so do not pay any sites.

Thanks for the quick answers, that is the original site I visited but even though it says "nhs" it looks like a poorly done website and was a bit apprehensive i giving my details to it.

they don't replace travel insurance - they just give you the right to the same health treatment that the locals get.

I think you are confusing it with the customs 'duty free' rules where the Canaries are an anomalous case.
