I obtained a criminal record for possession of marijuana with intent to supply when I was 16. I am now 18 and have no intention of visiting the US, but wonder whether, in the future, I should be able to visit?
I know my criminal record will hamper chances of entering the USA, but wonder if the fact that I was very young when the offence was committed and a long period out of trouble may mean I will be allowed to enter the US. (It is important to remember I am thinking of maybe 5-10 years in the future will which be 7-12 years after my offence).
Obviously it is impossible to predict any future changes in US immigration law but would be interested to know what people think.
If you keep your nose clean you might have half a chance but what with it being a drugs conviction with intent to supply, you might be on a sticky wicket.
Found out today that footballer Joey Barton (who spent 6 months behind bars for assault 2 years ago) was told he would have to remain crime free for 5 years before allowed to enter the US.
Would this apply to me?
