Thanks to those who tried to help me find a holiday earlier this week. Husband booked one today and I've got four days to get sorted (I thought I would only get one days notice so this is a bonus).

Lanzarote, just for the week but that should be long enough for us. It's surprisingly difficult to get a last minute holiday for so many people (even though we didn't mind where we went). A massive plus point is that ice cream is included in the all inclusive deal = 5 happy kiddiwinks.

Hi all - it's Playa Blanca (VERY mixed reviews of the actual place we a staying).

Last year we moved and went on holiday about a week later so four whole days notice is about the norm.

Don't know if they will sleep on the flight - it's at 7 ish in the morning and they've never flown before so they might be too excited.

Just need to get my thinking cap on now to work out what I need to get - definitely need suitcases though.

I hope (for Sherardk's sake), Boxtops, that the family will be able to get some sleep on the plane. If they're flying from Bristol, the flight (leaving at 1540 on Sunday) doesn't arrive until 0020 at Arrecife Airport. That will mean a very late arrival at their hotel!

Alternatively, they might all be getting up really early for the 0730 flight ex Cardiff (arriving at 1125). Either way, they would seem to be missing some sleep somewhere!

Hi Buenchico - we going from Birmingham, the kids (and me) will probably doze in the car. It's a trade off, I do the organising/packing and husband does the driving (I never drive if he is with us plus I don't do motorways).

Can you take a portable DVD player, sharr? A couple on the plane with us last week had a host of DVDs and their little girls watched them all through the journey.

Hi Boxtops - think we have decided on no electronic things (DS's etc) - not really sure as we usually go in the car and take everything except the kitchen sink with us (including a portable Sky dish and the sky box!). We're not really sure what to take as we are only taking 3 suitcases (when we have bought them) (eldest son will have one on wheels and husband will have two) - I will be responsible for not losing anyone - not taking a buggy so thing 1 and thing 2 will be on their reins.
