Criminal damage to car by 3 Teenagers.
3 Answers
I have got a car which is park off Road on a Private parking behind the property I leave in, because the car is SORN at the moment there is no insurance.
Just 2 days ago when I was in my kitchen cooking,I looked through my kitchen window which gives clear view to exactly where the car is parked , I saw 3 Teenagers drinking and smoking.
basically these teenagers were meant to be at school as they are not from local and there is a school just a around the corner from where I leave. They been there from morning drinking and smoking.A round 2pm I want to my kitchen to prepare some lunch, the moment I entered the kitchen all I heard was a big smashed noise, I look through the window all I saw was, these 3 teenagers have turn my parked car into a big enemy using bricks blocks smashing the windows. I quickly grab my phone got out the house and call the police whiles rushing to the scene. The moment I nearly got to the scene they started to run away I chased them and managed to get hold of one.I hold him real tight and told him I am not letting get away until the police arrives,He tried everything and anything and told me its wasn't him, as we heard the police approaching he headbutt me try to get away but still I didn't let him get away. Finally the police arrived and took over, the police asked what the problem is and I told them but the boy was denying everything.A few moment later he was handcuff and taken into the police car as he was very drunk and one officer told me they going to get a police van to take him to the station. My noise and mouth was bleeding so I was told to go back to my house to get some first aid and come back for my statement to be written. I did exactly what the officer said and went back. A statement was taken and the office came with me round the back and look at the damages and took some photos and I was told the boy will be charge for criminal damage and assault and they will update me as the case unfolds.
Now the big question is I have never been to court do I need any solicitor, how does the process work and finally how can I claim for the damage to my car as I have no Insurance.

While there is state funding to provide compensation to people who suffer injuries, there is no similar scheme for providing compensation to those who suffer damage or loss to their property. The court might make an order telling the offender that he must pay you compensation (through the court) but the order would have to take account of his income (or lack of it). So he might, for example, be ordered to pay you back at a rate of £3 per week. Every time a payment was paid into the court, you'd receive a cheque for that amount.
Theoretically you can also sue anyone who causes you loss or damage through their actions. However the old saying that 'you can't get blood out of a stone' applies here. You can't get money from someone who doesn't have any.
