Post office travel insurance question

On advice here I've decided to look into this and there are several different types of insurance, please have a look.

The premium has an extra called "Financial failure cover" option, Is this needed? What exactly is it? Also do you get cover from the day you fly and fly back or just the days you would actually be abroad? Just for extra info I'm going to ibiza for a week.

which sort of policy are you looking a? your link shows the site but not the policy choice you were looking for (there are several different travel policies). Presumably financial failure is if your travel company goes into liquidation as many have, then you have to pay to get yourself home again as the tour company has failed.
Re duration - we declare ours from the day we leave home, until a couple of days after we get back, to allow for delays. If you only do it for the time you're abroad, then you wouldn't be able to claim for air fares etc while you are on your way there, or lose your luggage on the way there.

For single trip insurance:

• Cancellation cover starts at the date and time of issue recorded as part of your application and as shown on your policy confirmation, and ends when you leave home to go on your trip.
• All other cover begins when you leave home to go on your trip and lasts until you arrive home, as long as that is within the period of insurance paid for. The maximum duration of any trip is 90 days


Financial Failure Cover

What you are covered for:
If your end supplier (Hotels; Car ferries; Villa owner, cottages owner; Railway journeys including the Eurostar; Coach Operator; Cruises not bonded; Car hire company; Caravan sites / campsites / mobile homes; Camper rental; Safaris; Excursion providers; Eurotunnel; Theme parks such as Disneyland Paris) becomes insolvent up to a maximum of £1,500 for:

1. Irrecoverable sums paid in advance in the event of insolvency of the End Supplier not forming part of an inclusive holiday prior to departure; or

2. In the event of insolvency after departure additional pro rata costs you incur in replacing that part of the insolvent End Supplier’s arrangements to a similar standard to that originally booked.

you ask whether you "need" it. Like most insurance you only need it when you need it!
I work in a Post Office and the travel insurance most commonly sold through Post Offices (in fact the only one available through the branches) is the Classic Cover, which doesn't offer this. Whether you decide you need it or not is up to you.

Boxtops - if you take out Post Office travel insurance then it covers you from the minute you leave home to start your holiday until the minute you get back, so if you were to lose your luggage on the way there, or there was a major holdup on the motorway so you couldn't get to the airport then you would be covered.

Can I apply online or do I still need to get a form from the po? If I can once I pay is it as easy as waiting for my papers or is there something else?
You can pay online, Wrongn3mber, you don't need a form, too. Just wait for everything to come through in the post. :)
