Hello everyone. Just arrived back from hols and have left my mobile in hotel room. It wouldnt even work whilst I was there so it was locked in the safe. I thought I had packed it but it wasnt anywhere to be found when returning home. Hotel havent found it so somebody must have stolen it from room. I am not covered by insurance (still need to check hol insurance but unlikely) and it was on contract so I need to buy handset. It was a HTC wildfire. Does anyone know the cheapest place I can get one or something similar? T mobile are sending me a replacement sim so I only need handset.

Sorry, just re-read your post.
Shame you didn't have basic insurance on it, tigwig - OH lost his in Europe and O2 sent us a new one straight away. It might be covered by your personal possessions household insurance too, check that as well as your travel cover. Make sure you have told your provider as you are on contract, otherwise someone else might well be racking up calls and downloads on your account......
^^ sorry, you said t-mobile already know
You have to get a report from the Guardia Civil for any insurance claims and I guess you haven't been able to do that.
^^ sorry I just assumed it was Spain, but should get a police report from any country.
Guess it depends, neti - OH lost his in a remote part of Europe, there was no police to report to, all 02 asked for was evidence that he'd actually been there, so he sent them a copy of a local receipt for his dinner that night.

It was Majorca but no I havent been able to contact police there. Hotel do know but all they are saying is no one has handed it in and cleaner hasnt found it. I know it must be in the room somewhere, either I missed it when clearing out safe or put it on the side for a short while whilst packing and my toddler got hold of it and stuffed it somewhere. It wasnt taken out of the room because it wouldnt work. So either they havent throughly checked room or new people are now in and have nicked it. Not that it will work at my cost but they will still have a free handset. Does anyone know where the cheapest place is to get a replacement? Is ebay reliable for mobiles?
They won't have gained a "new handset" if you have, as you say, reported it to T Mobile, they can put a block on the handset which would render it useless to anyone who tried to use by putting a different sim into it. Also they cannot get it unblocked as it has been blocked due to the fact it was lost/stolen.
Ring the Number, it might be closer than what you think!! that's if your Toddler got hold of it.

Thats what my OH said! It was turned off though anyway. I havent brought it back with me, I am convinced someone has stolen it from the room now.
So if a phone is blocked can you not get it unblocked? What are all these places you see that advertise they can do this? I was thinking of getting a phone from ebay but some say you are locked into a network would I be able to get this unblocked?
Hi Tigwig, your service provider will block your sim immediately once you've reported it missing. Also your phone (if supplied by your service provider) will have a serial code called an IME number which they can block the actual phone from being used and renders it useless.
