However, having been in Freeport numerous times (it is the home of L.L. Bean, after all) as well as Boothbay Harbor, I'd suggest you contact the hotel where you're staying. Often they will have a shuttle at little or no cost to go to Freeport, just because of L.L. Bean.
Whenyou go to L.L. Bean, notice that the doors have no locks... there open 24/7/365. I've been there at 0100 many times.
Just outsider the front entrance is a Ben and Jerry's ice cream stand... three zillion calories per scoop but well worth it!
Secondly, you're route to and from Freeport and Boothbay Harbor takes you through Brunswick, ME. The Joshua L. Chamberlain museum is worth seeing... small but very well appointed.
Every little village, (especially Brunswick and Bath) will have small, out of the way seafood shops... be sure to try their lobster chowder (or, as they say in Maine "lobstah chowdah".
Welcome to the U.S., by the way...
