How did countries such as Georgia start playing rugby? I understand s america and British colonies, but old soviet union countries?

What do you mean, how? Sport covers the world, the Georgians would be able to see it on TV from other countries if they didn't see it in person. I don't really understand your question.

Georgia is one of the most ancient countries in the world (pre-dating and post-dating the failed empire which was the Soviet Union :-) )
The Georgians claim to have invented rugby - at least they were playing a version of the game there since ancient times. Rugby is poised to overtake football as the most popular sport in the country.
