Discounted flight due to bereavement
Do any airlines offer a discounted flight if you need to suddenly travel due to bereavement? I mean we'd obviously Show A death cert etc? I guess not but here's hoping.we have a family member in south Africa (mum in law) who we've been told will likely pass away "soonish" the flights are horrendously expensive but bviously my husband will need to go over .

When my sister found herself in a similar situation in Australia (our father was dying here) , she found Qantas very helpful in arranging flights, etc at very short notice.
I'm not too sure about discounts, though.
I think it would be worth explaining the situation to them and asking what they could do...never hurts to ask.

Actually, bereavement (also called compassion fares) are quite common here in the U.S. and I'd be surprised (I'm in the aviation industry) if European and British carriers didn't offer them as well.
There are some caveats, of course. And one wants to compare them to all other available fares, since, often, the discount is based on a full fare, which no one buys anymore.... But be sure to inquire, at least...
Best of luck!
