Post Office Check and Send so-called service
I sent off my passport renewal application to Liverpool via a local Post Office check and send "service". I was told they would not, after all, need my old passport despite what I had read in the accompanying notes.
Today I received a letter from the passport office asking for my old passport and enclosing an address label for me to send on the passport at my own expense.
Presumably, armed with the original receipt and their letter, I can return to the Post Office tomorrow and claim a full refund, and expect them to send my passport to Liverpool at their expense.
Can't I?

Passport renewal applications are fairly straightforward, especially if you bother to read the notes that accompany the form, which the chap in the Post Office plainly failed to do. I should have been more insistent. Anyway, we'll see.
