Can anybody give me advice please on the price of a day travel pass, off peak, for London Underground. How far in advance can I buy it, and am I able to use my Senior Railcard.
Try as I might I am unable to find this information on the net.
Are you travelling to London by train? If so, you can buy a return ticket including travel card using a Senior Railcard. Look on the website of the Train Operating Company for details.
Thank you both for your answers, tickets to and from London already purchased, had to buy them as singles because of the advance time and prices involved.
You can effectively get a discount on a day travelcard if you get an Oyster card and register your senior railcard on it. You then get a one third reduction in off peak fares and a lower cap
This might take you 10 minutes or so on arrival. You can get the Oyster online (on www.tfl.gov.uk ) but I think the registering has to be done personally.
If you have an (English) bus pass it is valid on nearly all London buses BTW
If you are travelling on the weekend. It is worth checking the TFL website to make sure the tube lines you are going to use are open. They tend to do maintenance on the weekends. I have been caught out. A 15 min trip actually took over 2 hours as we had to use a replacement bus.
