Another Rip Off from the DVLA for MONEY....

Had a notice in the post today that I have to send in an up to date photo for my driving licence.

Not really a problem but, they want £20,00 + my cost of passport photo being taken, which is nearly a 3rd of my weekly pension.

When I think of how much money I have paid them over the years, I think they are taking the p1ss!!!!!!!!

Its not new photo licences need updated obviously.

Its the law i believe its every 10 years, similarly passports need updated too.Otherwise theyd be useless as id.Cheap price to pay for id which is essential now.

my photo on my licence is about 7 years old now!.....will not be happy to pay them to add a new pic in 3 years!...............

Its every 10 years but, I dont think I look that much different at 56 to 66!

Irrespective of what you think without a valid photo there's no valid licence.your choice.I'm sure there's a hefty fine for a licence without correct address i imagine similar if you don't update photo.I imagine in 3 years it will cost £30 or more.

Date is on your licence for photo renewal.I guess if police stop you they will see if you havent renewed it by the date. look here http://www.direct.gov...tedLicence/DG_4022088

they said in notice that there is a fine of £1,000 if I don't send new photo, that's more than a person gets for ABH or robbery in the UK.

So in comparison £20 is nothing if you still want to drive?Bear in mind if you owe dvla money they can take your car away.Better get to the poast office pronto.

I still have a paper licence. Green I think but it was once pink and before that a little red book that had to be renewed every 3 years.

Just did dvla theory test got 45 out of 50 i passed.phew.

some people like micmak manage without the photocard licences, but I don't know the rules for this. But for photo ID, £2 a year isn't too extortionate.

Paper only lasts until you move house or are due to renew.Then you must get photo id one.Some people dont renew their licence when they move house , to change addresson it, but this is illegal and has a hefty fine.
