my mum and her two sisters are looking for a decent b&b in or around edinburgh without much luck at the moment. has anyone been to one or has recommendations please. thanks.
Having stayed in a few b&bs in Edinburgh, I'd say they are better off booking a cheap hotel. B&Bs tend to be on the outskirts, ridiculously over priced and not that great. If they are on a budget, there are a few Travelodges which are really central (one just off the Royal Mile and one just off Prince's Street). If they can afford a little more, they should check out one of the comparison sites like Hotelclub.com or similar.
Look up Sandaig Guest House opposite Leith Links, it's a short bus ride or a longish walk out of the city but it's excellent. At this time of year there should be good rates, the breakfasts are outstanding, it's worth phoning rather than just using the website.
If they're looking for somewhere decent, ibizaboy, I can't recommend The Kingsburgh enough; it's beautiful and the lady who owns it is just fantastic. Best breakfast I've ever had, too. :)
