I am planning a trip to San Fran next year and wondered if anybody knows the best time of year to go. Do they have a rainy or hurricane season like Florida perhaps?
Any advice will be most welcome.
Thanks
Julesy.

Most new travelers are a bit surprised at how cool and wet San Francsico can be... Having said that, with a fairly moderate climate, San Francisco can be visited any time of year. Keep in mind that some days may be foggier than others, and some parts of town, such as the Richmond, Sunset, or the Upper Haight, are much foggier year-round, and can often be colder than the nearby Mission or Downtown areas. It's never usually colder than 40F degrees in SFO, though it can be during the winter rainy season from November to February or so. In San Francisco, the winters are mild, and even the summers can be chilly. In the city itself, its rarely warm enough for shorts and t-shirts only. It rarely tops 80F degrees and there's always a breeze, with areas near the beach and near the bridge being quite windy... So says one web site, but agrees with my experience there...

When I was there it was pretty cold and that was in June, it was quite weird driving out of San Francisco and suddenly it's 35 degrees Celsius :0) The fog is quite amazing, we had parked the almost beside Golden Gate, and we couldn't see it because of the fog! BTW China Town is a must see! I think San Francisco is wonderful city, and I', very jealous :0)

have a nice trip!
