shooty.once again thanks.some advice please. i have obtained a copy of the lonely planet and i'm spoilt for choice. if you were to revist, ho chi minh city and hanoi,what places would you return to? any advice would be welcome.

I visited Vietnam last September in a group. The country has stunning places but what I can really recommend are the Giac Lam Pagoda and the War Museum in Ho Chi Minh City.
Hanoi has a wonderful market in the city centre. Another nice place to go to is the Hoan Kiem Lake, where you can watch the locals doing their Tai Chi exercises in a nearby park every morning - really relaxing place to go to!
