New York Education Law Trip
Hi, I am a law student at the University of Derby and I have recently attended a law fair, where I received information from a company called Web Legal who plan educational law trips to new york for two weeks in the summer. The scheme sounds fantastic, however the prices are extortionate and do not include flights or flight transfers. Also, the accommodation is only a basic hostel in New York City.
I would very much appreciate it if anymore has any information regarding this type of educational trip, that could provide the full package at a reasonable price or if there are any sponsorship or grants available to law students?
Thank you.

A nice holiday, but US law is so diffrent from UK law that I can't see it being any actual use to a British law student. There are far more relevant ways to spend that sort of cash if you have it, whatever you do don't take out a loan to pay for it.

I'm sure if would be a great experience and very interesting but I was wondering the same as buildersmate - from an educational point of view I can't see much assistance other than showing an interest if you were thinking of going to law school there with a view to to practising (subject to the relevant state bar exam) in the US.
Is this it? http://www.weblegaled.../new_york_vacation.pl
The actual details of what you get are certainly lacking on the website! If it's a vacation then it is out of normal semester session in the US? Just classes on bits of US law and advocacy for paying people and a bit of a jolly round NY?
If you are thinking of studying in the US then you may want to look very carefully at the costs associated, especially if you wanted to go to a highly rated school, and how realistic the opportunity to stay on and practice would be.

Dont do it!!!! They owe me money and I have been chasing them for it and feel like I am being strung along! I agree, way too expensive and they've now miraculously lowered the price even though they are saying places are going fast :-/. My advice: focus on vacation scheme placements and work experience. If you fancy going to NYC and have the money for it, go for it and visit the courts etc for yourself!!
