Mr BM is off on a boys' week. He obviously needs to buy currency. What is best? To buy from the bank? Post Office? Airport? We normally only ever holiday in Scotland so we don't normally encounter such issues!

I think airport would be the dearest of the options.
If you are only exchanging £1000 or so then it really doesn't matter......go for the most convenient..........
Travelex aren`t bad. Don`t buy from their desk though. You get a better rate if you order it online and collect from the Travelex desk at the airport. That`s what I did on my last holiday. You can pay it back to the Travelex desk on arrival back in the UK.
Post Offce for me, good rates and easy service .

You can also use ATMs to get money, or pay with credit cards.
Wait until an Independant Scotland adopts the Euro barmaid !
M&S or Sainsburys - stay clear of the banks. I am sure he will have a card for emergency purposes in Malta.......they should accept Visa.
After checking the rates locally 1.15, I ordered on line and picked up my euros at the Travelex desk at airport, Got 1.17
