What is your nationality?

If you are British, have a look here at the UK Passport Office site for full information:

http://www.ukps.gov.uk/

In any case, the application form indicates who should sign the photos (doctor, priest etc).

The link you've already been given should tell you all you need to know. But bear in mind that it has to be someone who has known you personally for two years (assuming that your child is aged over 2) so if you want your boss to sign s/he would have to know your child, not just know you....
I disagree with Lillabet. I've just got my children passports for the first time, and as it was ME signing the passport form, the person who signs the back of the photos etc had to have known ME for a minimum of 2 years. I got my neighbour, who is an academic to sign as even though he only moved in here 18 months ago, which is when he first met my kids, I knew him 20 years ago when we used to knock around with the same gang. He even had to sign the form stating that he had known ME for however long.
Anyway, you do need a professional person of some kind to sign your childs passport form, and they also need to hold a UK passport themselves as they have to put the details of that on the form. You could ask your boss, but other than that do you know anyone who works in the Police or in a Bank, or is a Teacher?
Civil Servant, Publican, Doctor, Policeman, clergyman.
A lot of GPs won't countersign photos now - I'm in the business and don't know a single one in this area who will. Those who do, charge
